The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open presented by Coolridge set to include Pro Junior in 2015.

Some of the world’s best grommet surfers will return to Lennox Head from July 3rd – 8th 2015, to compete in one of the premier junior events on the calendar, The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open presented by Coolridge.

In 2015, the under-16 year old junior event looks set to raise the bar of junior surfing, with the inclusion of a new 64-man World Surf League (WSL) Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) division presented by Coolridge and a $12,000 prize purse – currently the biggest prize pool for any Pro Junior in Australia – with the winner walking away with $4,500.

All event divisions will be broadcast live on Entries into the under-12, under-14 and under-16 divisions are now open on
David Chegwyn from Skullcandy stated: “I’m thrilled we are going into our fourth year of the event. The Le-Ba Boardriders guys have done an amazing job turning the event into a platform where grommets can now surf all the way through to the new WSL JQS division and it’s great to see a sponsor like Coolridge come on board and have the same passion about grassroots surfing as we do.”

Mayor of Ballina Shire Council David Wright added: “I am a very proud supporter of this major event and it is fitting that the new JQS division has been incorporated into the program. The quality of the competitors, the setting, the officials and the live stream footage presents the region with a fantastic competition for young surfers from around Australia and overseas.”

Entries into the Skullcandy Oz Grom Open presented by Coolridge JQS division will open shortly. All WSL members will receive an email when entries open.

The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open presented by Coolridge will be the final stop on the WSL JQS series with the overall champion being crowned at Lennox Head, hence adding another element of excitement to the already prestigious event.
