The Fletcher’s Landscapes Trophy is the next comp this Saturday 25 June for the 2022 Southend Boardriders point score season and is now open on Liveheats for surfers to register; cut off is 5pm on Thursday 23 June and heats drawn on the Friday.
Fletcher’s Landscapes, a locally run business that will bring your outdoor garden and landscaping visions to reality. Led by long time Southender, Luke Fletcher, the team specialise in landscaping design, construction, project management and maintenance. Check out their amazing work on the Fletcher’s Landscapes instagram.
Most importantly, we will be dedicating some time during the comp on Saturday to remember and pay tribute to Southend OG and Life Member, John ‘Semo‘ Seminara. At 12pm we will do a paddle out and be with the Seminara family while we celebrate the life of the absolute legend, Semo. After the paddle-out we will do the 2022 club group photo and get the young Semo’s on the decks to spin some phat beats.
The predictions for the day are for mild weather, sun, light winds and a small easterly swell.
Our young LGS rippers the Southend ‘microgroms’ will meet at the tent 10:00am for a 10:30 start; if anything changes, we’ll post a message on the socials to let you know.
For anyone who didn’t pick up your 2022 member T-Shirts, we’ll have them bagged up and ready to go on Saturday as well
Thanks again to the crew at Fletcher’s Landscapes for supporting Southend Boardriders! See ya’ll on Saturday!

The Barmilano Cup is the next comp for the 2022 Southend Boardriders point score season. Scheduled for this Saturday 21 May at Maroubra Beach, the comp is now open on Liveheats for surfers to register; cut off is 5pm on Thursday 19 May.
This comp is brought to you by Barmilano on Marine Parade and has a focus on our female surfers. We are pleased to see that the Southend female divisions continue to grow so strongly with over 60 members signed in 2022. Many have been participating in a program being coordinated by committee member Jeni Lee, with coaching sessions, well-being activities and social events that help to break down barriers and contribute to Maroubra beach becoming an inclusive, safe and friendly place to compete, socialise and join in club events.
The current forecast for the Barmilano Cup is calling a mid-size southerly swell with light winds all day – let’s just hope that all the rain forecast for this coming week buggers off by Saturday.
Our shredding ‘microgroms’ will meet at the tent 8:45am, and surf at 9am. We will let you know if there’s a change so keep your eye on socials.
All going well, we should have the 2022 member T-Shirts available for pick up on Saturday as well, and weather permitting, we will do the 2022 club group photo around 11am. For more information about this closer to the day, and to see the heat draws, stay tuned to the Southend socials and Liveheats.
Thanks again to the crew at Barmilano for supporting Southend Boardriders! See you on Saturday!
That’s a wrap for our first comp!
Thanks everyone for an awesome day for the first comp of the 2022 season for Southend Boardriders. We were greeted with off shore winds and 2-3ft waves in the morning and were lucky enough to jag sunshine and swell throughout the entire day, even throwing a few dolphins, shark sightings and jellyfish into the mix to keep everyone on their toes.
All divisions are completely full this year including our Open Women’s division and we had a full day of surfing from sunrise to sunset to get through the heats. Some of the surfing we saw particularly in Opens A Grade was next level good and it’s great to see how healthy top-level surfing is at Maroubra beach. Congrats to Adam Seminara and Charlotte Wilson for taking out their divisions and scoring the cold hard cash.
A massive shout-out to all of those young grommets moving up divisions this year and surfing so well throughout the day yesterday to stamp your mark your the new divisions.
Thanks of course also to all of the volunteers and sponsors that helped us get here and will help us throughout the year; yesterday’s comp supported by Core Mortgage Brokers at Maroubra junction.
Hope you all had a great day for our first comp and can’t wait to see you all back for comp number #2 on 21 May.
