Local groms do well at the Sydney School Titles

The Sydney School Regional Titles were held on Friday May 10 at Cronulla and a bunch of our local Maroubra grommets surfed their way into the finals. Within the first 5 minutes of his round 1 heat, Monty Tait performed a series of mechanical beyond vertical backhand reo’s to have his opposition requiring a combination of scores to progress. Jackson Giles scored a pair of sunnies for best wave of round 1, riding smoothly out of some ridiculous 360 airs. Max McGuigan and Jack Pacey ripped the small waves apart as well,and there were some good results in the girls divisions too from Emma McGuigan and the Tomazszuk sisters. Ex-Pres Wes said that Tyson McIntosh was surfing well earlier in the day too but unfortunately couldn’t work his way into the finals. Some of the final results include

  • Emma McGuigan: 4th in Junior Girls
  • Max McGuigan (3rd) and Jack Pacey (4th) in Junior Boys
  • Georgia and Gretal Tomazszuk (4th and 5th repectively) in Senior Girls
  • Jackson Giles (3rd) and Monty Tait (4th) in Senior Boys
