Unfortunately mother nature didn’t play ball a few weeks back at event 4 with small conditions prevailing. Whilst it was too small for the bigger kids and adults it was overhead for the U/12 Micros and the call was made to run.
The grom boys hit the water first up and in round 1 Dylan O’Rouke, Jake Feher, Will Emanuele, Koby Lawson and Kayde King dominated catching some great little waves. The Semi’s were very tight with Koby, Will, Jake F and Pete Parris getting through to the Final. Jake got a nice wave first up and took the early lead He followed that up with another and he was out to a healthy lead after 5 minutes. Pete P was next up and he found some nice green faced waves to get some nice little turns in. At the midway point it was Jake leading, Pete in 2nd. Both Will and Koby were having trouble getting the good scoring waves but with 5 to go Will swooped on a great right hander and ripped the wave all the way to shore. Wave of the day. Within a minute he got another and in the blink of an eye he was in front. Young Koby caught 2 quick waves in the last 2 minutes but it wasn’t enough to steal the lead from Will. Congrats to Will. He recovered well after a slow start and caught the wave of the day to take out his 1st win this year.
It was a slow start to the Micro Girls final with very few waves caught in the 1st half of the heat. The 2nd half was a total contrast. Waves started pouring through and all the girls got some. Once the judges tallied the sheets it was little Zoe Cass taking out her 2nd win of the year. Well done Zoe. Lucielle Giraud surfed a great final too and was a close 2nd. Her best result of the year.
