‘Aloha’ fellow ‘Creatures of leisure’,
Comp number 3 for the Southend Boardriders 2012 surfing season is on this Saturday May 26 and according to our ‘Insight’ on the ‘Rusty’ ol’ ‘Crystal Cylinder’, we ‘Spy’ conditions for both ‘Ocean & Earth’ as ‘Waves’ in the 2ft range with winds from the ‘West’ all day.
We reckon the ‘Quiksilver’ in the thermometers may be dropping though as the air temp will likely be on the cool side, but luckily for us, Jazzright Production Services have come to the
party to sponsor the day, so the BBQ will be fired up and cranking out ‘Piping Hot’ bacon and egg rolls and sausage sambos all day. There will be a ‘Hive’ of activity going on all day, so come down to compete or watch as both ‘Dripping Wet’ Surfer Girl and surfer guy ‘Rip Curl’ and ride the ‘Peak’ all day.
The swell direction is likely to be from the east or north-east which means that we could possibly be surfing more toward Southend near the Reef. Check Twitter or Facebook on the day to see where we are setting up (or better still, come down at 6:30 to help us choose the bank and set up!)
Based on the number of competitors this year (and the diminishing day light hours), we really need to get the first heats in the water around 7:30am and that will most likely be the cadets – so it would be great to get all of you Cadet boys need to be signed in by 7:30am. ‘Converse’-ly we will keep the 7:45am sign-in deadline for the Opens, B-Grade and Juniors divisions.
Micro Boys/girls, Cadet Girls and Open Women’s division surfers need to be signed in prior to11am. All divisions at this next comp will be run under the traditional ‘Knock-out’ format where only the top 2 surfers progress to the next round (or top 3 surfers if there are 5 or 6 in the heat). Remember, now that we have ditched the old ‘Analog’ judging system and going with our new ‘Kustom’ ‘Electric’ one, once the sign-in is done it is not really possible to squeeze in any late arrivals.
.
Cheers and see you on Saturday… And remember to thank John from Jazzright Production Services on the day for providing the food and drinks; and check them out at http://www.jazzright.com.au/ when you need some expert advice or AV equipment for your next big event.
Cheers
Ps. Sorry if the inclusion of all of these surfing brands Affends anyone
