This coming Saturday March 29 is the first comp of 2014 for Southend, our 30th continuous year of operation. The swell looks to be easing over the next few days and it’s likely that Saturday will be small but with some light westerlies to clean things up.
If you haven’t already registered to surf for 2014, we are having another registration evening at Sands Hotel this coming Friday (March 28) from 5pm. The early registrations help us
out a lot as it means that we can get your details on to the computer, sort out T-Shirts and have a better chance of kicking off the first comp in a timely manner on Saturday. On Friday we’ll also be scheduling the first heat draws for the comp on the following morning and we’ll stick around for some food and drinks and watch the Roosters and Eagles bust each other up.
Surfers competing on Saturday need to be registered and paid and should sign on to surf for the day at the
judges tent on Saturday morning by 7:45am. If however you are in the Micros (Under 12’s) or Cadet Girls or Women’s division, you need to be down at the beach and signed on to surf for the day by 11am. If you’re new to Southend this year you might want to check out the new member orientation page to get your head around how the average comp day goes.
Remember that you can find the membership forms and pay online (PayPal or credit card) here on this site and while you’re at it, grab a $100 membership to the Southend 100 club so you can be in the running to win cash throughout the year, get your 2014 T-shirt and get to come along to the big fancy soiree exclusive to the 100 Club members in November.
