As the 2013 surfing season draws closer, we need

to say a MASSIVE thank you to Wes Moore who has decided that after 10 long years as El Presidente of Southend Boardriders, he will step aside from the role and concentrate instead on the endless list of odd-jobs that he has around the house. Wes’s time at the helm was a presidency that has seen Southend Boardriders reach its strongest position in terms of membership since inception in 1985. There has not been another member that over the years has put up and packed away the tents, lugged stuff up and down the sand and judged as many heats as much as Wes has. Thanks mate for the massive effort!!

The flip-side and good news to Wes’s abdication is that

it has opened the door to the role of President to another long-time Southend stalwart, Jason Platts. On behalf of the committee and members we welcome ‘Plattsy’ to role as just the 5th President of Southend Boardriders in 28 years. He brings to the position a wealth of expertise and a long solid history with club; so we are all looking forward to 2013 and beyond with Plattsy at the controls
