Comp #3: The Campbell’s Southpoint Tender Meats showdown

Hi there party people, comp number 3 of the Southend boardriders 2024 point score season is on this weekend. Conditions are forecast for a 2.5 metre S to SE swell and some light west to south-westerly winds, so while it is likely to be a little cool, there is the potential for some great waves on offer!

This month’s competition is proudly brought to you by Campbell’s Southpoint Tender Meats at Hillsdale, where you’ll get their famous award winning fat snags and the finest quality meat available. And this time around for our lunchtime treats we’re going to be whipping up some beautiful slow cooked Thai beef rolls. We will be selling the rolls to help raise some money to send a group of our young female surfers up for a training camp at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) on the northern NSW coast. So please plan to have your lunch down at the beach with us so we can help set up the next generation of young female surfing talent here at Maroubra.

On Saturday we have a lowish high-tide that will be slowly dropping throughout the day, so we plan to run the micro-grommet division with Let’s Go Surfing before the offshore wind picks up too strong, so Micros please come down at 8:30am for a 9:00am start.

As usual the competition is open for you to register at https://liveheats.com/southendboardriders so jump on there to register if you’re surfing.
On that note please do not get on there to register to surf if you are not going to turn up for your heat on the day. It really stuffs us around with the schedule if we have heats where there is a person or two missing. While it is a great thing to have so many hundreds of frothers keen and registered to surf, a few ‘no-shows’ in heats up stuff up progression and adds unnecessary time into the day which is already often scheduled past sunset.

On a final note, the 2024 season Tee’s will be available to pick up on the day from 9am; might be one of the many layers you’ll need on what’s looking to be a chilly but great day of competitive surfing.
