Comp 1- This Saturday April 22

Hi all,

This Saturday April 22 is competition numero uno for the 2017 season. This comp and the next in May is being sponsored by Jaya Perera  at Sydney Eastern Suburbs Surfboard Repair right here in Maroubra so make sure you look them up next time you snap a board in the shorey or rip a fin out on the reef. They’re right here in Maroubra at 98 Marine Parade and you can also drop your stick off at Maroubra Surf n Sk8.

Cadet Boys will be surfing first on Saturday so your sign will open at 6:30am and close at 7am. Juniors and B grade sign-in cuts-off 7:45am. Open Women, A grade and Grand Masters cuts-off at 8:15am.

The younger Micro girls and guys in the parent assisted division and the Cadet girls need to sign in by 10.45am. The surf is looking to be pretty small on Saturday, so hopefully you younger grommets will be able to rip right in and have some fun.

If you haven’t already registered for the year please jump online and do it beforehand so we can get your name into the compusurf system to make the heat draw process easier on what is always a bit of a hectic morning. We will have the 2017 Southend tee’s on the day as well and they will be handed out a little later in the day once the dust has settled.

The BBQ will be sizzling away for all members with some bacon and eggs for breakfast and lunch later on. After the day wraps up, we have organised to put on some food for all the kids who surfed back up at the Sands Hotel, so we’ll all head up the hill to refuel after a big day. There is a new chef starting at the Sands from tonight and he has a really good selection of meals at really good prices so definitely worth checking out.

We’ll be down the beach around 6am on Saturday to start setting up, so feel free to come down early and help set things up. We’ll have to check with the lifeguards but will most likely be around the middle of the beach somewhere – keep an eye on Instagram for an update. If you are a new member or anxious parent, check out the orientation page on our web site at http://southendboardriders.com.au/the-club/new-member-orientation/ to get a feel for how the day works.

Hope to see you on Saturday!
