Heavyweight Rumble @Homebush Wavepool

Well done to our Southend team who reached the Semi Finals of the Surfing NSW Heavyweight Rumble Wave Pool event last weekend. The team blazed through the early rounds with all team members racking up some scores in the high and excellent range. Unfortunately, things didn’t click in the semis and the team were bundled out. The team are looking forward to and already planning for the next event, the ABB regionals at Cronulla on Nov 1st.

North Narrabeen regained the title and took home the winners’ belt and the cash. For the full event report head to – North Narrabeen Reclaims Crown in Epic Boardriders Battle at URBNSURF Sydney | Surfing New South Wales

2025 Beach Burrito Paul Baxter Shield

Another epic Baxter event has been run and won. The waves were pumping in the bowl at Southend. Clean 3-4ft offshore winds and a bunch of geriatrics and pensioners tore the waves apart on the Softlite boards. The novelty events were epic and the Teams final was a nailbiter and the after party at Beach Burrito went off as it always does.

Well done to Zac Michael and Team White for taking out the event. Only 3 points separated them, and 2nd place yellow team. One of the closest events in years. This year’s event went down to the wire and it was the last wave in the tag final that flipped the lead and determined the overall winner. The situation was

– Team Yellow were on the beach winning the Tag and the overall

– Team White were also on the beach in 2nd overall after bombing out in the Tag final. They needed team blue to pull off a miracle 8.8 to take out the Tag final which would shift Yellow to 2nd in the tg final and 2nd overall. Buckleys chance as the wind and tide had destroyed the surf. The highest score in the final was 6.5 early in the heat.

– Step up Mateus Bersot who found a nugget. Ripped some big turns out the back and finished with a big float on the sore. bang 9 point ride. Team Blue restores some pride in the final and Team Yellow goes into 2nd place in the tag final and 2nd overall. Team White wins the event and will be buying Mateus drinks until the next edition of the Baxter.

Final Scores

White – 61

Yellow – 58

Blue – 48

Red – 39

Also well done to Judah Miller for taking out the Sean Sweet wave of the Day. A 9.5 ride in his opening heat. He grabbed a set wave in the bowl, ripped out 6 turns and a close out floater on the shore to finish it off. A deserving winner of the medal to celebrate a great friend to many of the old boys Sean Sweet

Thanks to all the crew for dressing up and having a fun day. Also, many thanks to our event sponsors Beach Burrito Coogee and Softlite.
