Southend 2024 Comp #1 this Saturday

2023 was epic on all fronts thanks to our amazing members, their families, and our legendary volunteers and sponsors who make it all happen. With new President Tye Koolis stepping up to take the reins from Richie Fairbairn in 2024, this year promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Those big swells over the last few weeks have formed some fun banks across the beach. Can’t wait to get our 40th year started.

FORECAST

This Saturday we are expecting the swell to be in the 3-5 foot range from the SE with a southerly breeze expected. Water temp is still a balmy 22 degrees.

MICROGROMS

The Southend ‘Microgroms’ will meet at the tent around 10:30 am for a 11am start thanks to Let’s Go Surfing. They will do a warm-up then have a mini-comp that’s all about fun (‘parent-assist’ in the water is encouraged). We are looking for parents to get involved so if you would like to help out, please chat to Rachel Michaels on Saturday.

Feel free to take plenty of photos and videos, share, tag @southendboardriders on Instagram!

For our 2024 season we are lucky enough to have the good folk at Good Citizens on board. Australian pioneers in recycled eyewear, Good Citizens makes recycled, repairable and recyclable eyewear frames out of discarded single-use plastic bottles. Each frame is made from a recycled plastic bottle and the lenses are made by Carl Zeiss Vision so they are top quality. The frames are repairable and they are made right here in Sydney. At each comp on the 2024 season, we will be giving out a pair of Good Citizens sunnies for the Good Citizens move of the day!

COMP SPONSORS SPOTLIGHT

Special thanks to our long-time friends and Gold Sponsors Craig and Susie from Maroubra Beach Surf & Skate. They have been longtime supporters of the club for over 10 years. Located smack bang right in the middle of McKeon Street drop in and say g’day. They have 100’s of boards, wetties including new season steamers and springsuits on sale, skateboards and all surf accessories.
